Little Blue Tote

I made this little tote over the weekend. It's 9" x 12", so anything A4 will fit into it. The three circles appliqued onto the front were inspired by some images of Japanese bags that I found on the Flickr group 'Inspiring Images from Craft Books'.

The fabrics I used for the circles were all from my scrap box. I have a real thing about keeping every scrap and have been trying very hard to put them all to good use.

I did something similar this weekend with the applique for my mom! I bought some great cat fabric and put them on the front of a bag I made Mom. Only problem was I tried at first to iron the patches on, but I think because I didn't wash the denim before ironing it didn't work! In the end they looked better with the machined satin stitch anyway! Did you use the machine to do the satin stitch? I would have to practice a lot to get it to look as good as you have!

I save all my scraps, too. This is an ingenious way to use them. Very cute bag!
